2008 Roadster iPod Cable Installation

Photos showing the disassembly required to run a new iPod cable in the 2008 Tesla Roadster. The original JVC unit runs one cable to a collection of devices stored in a polystyrene insert at the bottom of the area behind the left dash/console piece. From there, the iPod support module runs a custom iPod cable under the driver side carpet and into the bottom of the lower center console piece. Replacing that cable requires removing the left console pieces, the driver's seat and the entire center console.

The Alpine unit we picked to replace the JVC uses a standard USB cable with a short iPod adapter at the end. We left the USB end exposed and tucked the connection into the top of the console's cable retainer piece. This will allow us to use a USB thumb drive as another source of music.
